We have seen the sheer variation of the savings when comparing the top of the line to the lowest end of the spectrum, but what we really want to know is what characteristics are optimum for AutoCAD 2013? We figured that we would focus our testing in two areas. One, we wanted to see what is the minimum video card that was statistically required to get decent results. Two, we also wanted to see what is the highest end card that we could achieve good results with. The minimum card figure was found to be the NVIDIA GTX 660 with 50% of the graphics performance without multiple monitor support. Multiple monitor support will be further discussed down below. The highest end was found to be the NVIDIA GTX 680 with 95% of the graphics performance. The savings graphics performance is approximately 75% which should be enough to impress most users.
As mentioned above, this is a reasonably basic benchmark. If you want more complex benchmarks, where multiple applications are used and benchmarks, then check out the Cadalyst GPU Benchmark. There is an article in the Flashback entitled "The RealComparison GPU Benchmark." d2c66b5586
